Motorcyclist strikes, kills Summerville man on bike

A 55-year-old Summerville man died Saturday night after being struck by a motorcycle while riding his bike on Old Orangeburg Road.

William Albert Fuller, of Magwood Drive, was riding his bicycle toward Dorchester Road just after 8:30 p.m., when a motorcycle traveling in the same direction struck him from behind, according Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet. Fuller died at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash.

The motorcyclist, identified by the South Carolina Highway Patrol as Michael Dixon, was airlifted to Medical University Hospital with unknown injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol. No charges have been filed.
