Moped rider killed in Berkeley County identified

The moped rider who was killed Wednesday morning on Jedburg Road has been identified.

He was Clifford Jackson, 56, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said Thursday. Jackson died of head injuries.

The moped was traveling north on Jedburg Road over the Interstate 26 overpass, ran a red light and hit a tractor-trailer about 11:10 a.m., according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. The rider was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.

Glover Funeral Home will be handling arrangements, Salisbury said.
