Moncks Corner man sentenced for killing son, shooting his fiancee

Johnny Irby

A Moncks Corner man accused of killing his son and wounding his fiancee during a fight was found guilty of murder and attempted murder Thursday night.

Johnny Irby of Haynesville Road was sentenced to 30 years for murder and another 30 years for attempted murder, Ninth Circuit Deputy Solicitor Bryan Alfaro said. The sentences are to run concurrently.

Irby killed his son, Telly Irby, 35, and wounded his son's 32-year-old fiancee, Michelle Wiggins.

Witnesses said Telly Irby hit his father in the head during an argument about the son's plans for the future, and his father got a gun and shot him.
