Meth-making materials found in Citadel Mall parking lot

Dave Munday/staff A hazmat unit, police cars, an ambulance and a fire truck were still outside the Citadel Mall near the King Street Grille at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday after police said they found a stolen car with meth-making materials in the parking lot.

Materials for making methamphetamine were found in a stolen car at Citadel Mall Wednesday evening, according to Charleston police.

Multiple reports of police and fire personnel in the mall parking lot began around 9:50 p.m.

Police, the Charleston Fire Department and a hazardous materials team responded, according to police spokesman Charles Francis.

There were no injuries, he said.

Emergency responders were still on the scene as of 11:15 p.m.
