Man wounded by gunfire on Johns Island

A man was wounded by gunfire on Johns Island Tuesday night.

Around 11:20 p.m., Charleston police were called to 1649 Brownswood Road to check out a report of a gunshot incident. Officers found a 35-year-old resident who had been shot twice in the chest sitting in a chair in the front yard, according to the incident report.

He was taken to Medical University Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police spokesman Charles Francis said.

No arrests have been made.
