Charleston police are searching for a 24-year-old man in connection with a shooting that wounded a man this week on Percy Street.

Markel Jenkins is wanted on charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, police said. He is described as being 6 -foot-2, about 210 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Investigators don’t have an address for Jenkins, police spokesman Charles Francis said, but he is known to frequent peninsular Charleston. Jenkins should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.

One man was transported to Medical University Hospital Wednesday following the shooting on Percy Street. He was treated for injuries that weren’t believed to be life threatening, authorities said.

Anyone with information about the shooting or Jenkins can contact Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
