Man wanted in Berkeley since 2012 on sex crimes arrested in North Carolina

A man who was wanted in Berkeley County since 2012 on sex crimes involving minors was arrested Monday night in North Carolina.

Freeman Ingram, whose age and address have not been released, was taken into custody about 8 p.m. in Gastonia. Berkeley County sheriff’s detectives worked with members of the U.S. Marshals Service task force to locate him.

Ingram was wanted on charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor 11 to 14 years old, lewd act on a child under the age of 16, first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 11 and two counts of unlawful neglect of a child.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released incident reports about the charges. Ingram is currently being held in the Gaston County jail pending extradition back to South Carolina.
