Man stabbed while riding CARTA bus, North Charleston police say

A person was stabbed Saturday night while riding a CARTA bus in North Charleston.

Police responded shortly before 7:30 p.m. to Tanger Outlet Boulevard following a report of the stabbing, North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.

Witnesses reported seeing a man who appeared to be drunk pull a knife on another man during an altercation, Pryor said. The suspect stabbed the victim, then ran from the bus toward International Boulevard, witnesses told police.

The victim was transported to Medical University Hospital with injuries that weren’t believed to be life threatening, Pryor said.

The suspect is described as black, 6-feet-tall, 30 to 35, bald and wearing a blue shirt.
