A man was shot Wednesday night while walking on a Remley’s Point road in Mount Pleasant, according to police.
The suspect remains at large, according to Inspector Chip Googe. The victim was taken to an area hospital, but his condition was not known and Googe declined to say how many times he was shot.
The man was shot just before 8:25 p.m., then walked across Mathis Ferry Road and collapsed in the River’s Walk Apartments parking lot, Googe said. Residents in the area rendered aid and called police.
William Buchheit lives in the apartment complex and said he heard about 12 gunshots before running outside to see what was going on. He was met by police who confirmed that a man was injured in the gunfire, he said.
Police cordoned off part of the parking lot at the apartments and a road near Holy Trinity AME Church, where the shooting took place. Googe said that the department did not have any suspect information and investigators were looking for witnesses to the shooting.
