Man shot outside Rivers Avenue club in North Charleston

A man was shot outside a Rivers Avenue nightclub early Wednesday.

The incident was reported about 1:30 a.m. outside the Honey Beez club in the southern end of North Charleston, according to police.

A security guard told officers he saw a man leaning into the driver’s side window of a Chrysler 300 outside the club, then heard two or three gunshots from inside the car and the man fell backward yelling he was shot, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.

The guard drew a gun and ordered the driver to show his hands, but the driver sped off, firing two more shots toward the guard, Pryor said.

The victim was taken to Medical University Hospital for treatment.

Police are looking for the driver of a burgundy or red Chrysler 300 with factory rims, very dark window tint and chrome window trim.
