Man says he was shot in North Charleston while fighting robbers

A man told police he was shot while resisting a robbery in North Charleston early Thursday.

Shortly before 1 a.m., officers found a man with gunshot wounds lying in the road in the 1500 block of North Rhett Avenue, North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said. The area is between Braddock Avenue and Interstate 526.

The man told officers two men and a woman tried to rob him at a nearby mobile home park, and he was shot when he fought back.

No other details were immediately available.
