Man, 86, killed in Berkeley County wreck

An 86-year-old man died Saturday in a wreck in Berkeley County.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Perfecto Desonia of Goose Creek.

Authorities responded around 10:50 a.m. after a 2010 Dodge Challenger collided with a 2006 Dodge van as the van attempted to turn north onto Red Bank Road, Highway Patrol reported.

Paramedics transported Desonia, the van’s driver, to Trident Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:44 p.m., according to the coroner’s office. He was wearing a seat belt when the wreck occurred.

State Highway Patrol troopers and the coroner’s office are investigating the collision.
