Man found Monday in Summerville with trauma dies

A man who was found with head and body trauma Monday in Summerville has died, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.

Daniel Montalvo, 24, of Summerville, was found just after midnight Monday in the 100 block of Heather Drive, in Sangaree, and was taken to Medical University Hospital, according to Coroner Bill Salisbury. He died Wednesday in the intensive care unit.

According to a police report from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Montalvo was found unresponsive and bleeding from the head in a driveway on Heather Drive. No other information about the incident has been released.

An autopsy is being conducted as part of an ongoing investigation by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
