The Coast Guard on Tuesday medically evacuated a man from the Charleston-based cruise ship Carnival Fantasy, 60-miles southeast of Jacksonville.

The 56-year-old man, his wife and a ship’s nurse were taken by helicopter to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. The man, who was having respiratory problems, was admitted in stable condition, the Coast Guard said.

No names were released. A press release states watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville were notified by Carnival Fantasy crewmembers at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday that a passenger was experiencing respiratory failure and needed immediate medical attention.

Coast Guard Air Station Savannah launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and rescue crew, which arrived at the ship about 10 a.m., the Coast Guard said.
