Johns Island — A man was killed Sunday night when he fell off a tractor and was run over.
Thomas Bussey, 52, died from injuries suffered in the incident, said Kimberly Rhoton, Charleston County deputy coroner.
At about 6 p.m., Charleston County deputies responded to the Humbert Road home to investigate the fatal accident, said Maj. Eric Watson, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were told that Bussey was operating a Massey-Ferguson 1030 tractor on his property, Watson said.
“The tractor had a flat left front tire, and the victim was attempting to take the tractor into a garage under his residence to repair it,” Watson said. “When the victim reached the garage door, it appears that he fell from the tractor and was struck by the back left tire.”
Bussey was last seen at approximately 5 p.m. on the tractor heading back to the residence. He was found at 6 p.m. with the tractor still in gear.
