Man accused of holding ex-girlfriend captive at Charleston home

Ronald Larnard Nelson Jr., 23

Charleston police are looking for a 23-year-old man accused of holding his former girlfriend captive, authorities said Monday.

Ronald L. Nelson Jr. of North Nassau Street on Charleston’s East Side is wanted on charges of kidnapping and second-degree assault and battery.

The allegations stem from an incident Friday at a Delano Street home, police spokesman Charles Francis said. An incident report contained little information, but it stated that Nelson pointed a gun at the 24-year-old woman.

Nelson was described as 6 feet 1 inch tall and 170 pounds. He has been known to frequent Poinsett Street, Francis said.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111 or ask for the on-call Charleston detective after contacting the county dispatch center at 843-743-7200.
