A military contractor from North Myrtle Beach was killed in Afghanistan Thursday when a gunman dressed as an Afghan soldier opened fire at a base attached to Kabul’s international airport, according to information from the military officials and the man’s family, according to a story posted on the Myrtle Beach Sun News’ website.
Walt Fisher, a 49-year-old employee of Fayetteville, N.C.,-based Praetorian Standard Inc. (PSI), died in the shooting, said his wife Dre Fisher. She said he was training Afghan soldiers there and had been in that country for 30 days. He was scheduled to come home March 17.
