Loaded gun, knife found in bag at Myrtle Beach airport

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A Virginia woman is in jail after authorities say they found a loaded handgun and a knife in her carry-on bag at the Myrtle Beach International Airport.

Transportation Security Administration officials tell local media outlets that 52-year-old Janet Allred of Ivanhoe, Virginia has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon into the airport.

It was not immediately known if she had an attorney.

Authorities say the bag with a loaded .32-caliber revolver and the knife were found at a security checkpoint on Thursday morning.

It was the first firearm found at the airport this year. Last year, three firearms were seized.
