A little girl escaped serious injury Friday morning after her stroller was struck by a UHaul truck in downtown Charleston.
The 3-year-old child’s family was waiting at the corner of King and Line streets when the 21-foot-long truck made a right turn onto King and struck the stroller, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said.
A pedestrian yelled at the driver, James Sherman, that he had struck the stroller and Sherman stopped the truck. Police, fire and EMS arrived on scene.
The little girl was not injured. She was taken to MUSC for evaluation. Sherman was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian, Francis said.
