A woman wounded in an apparent domestic dispute in Ladson Saturday night was shot four times by her husband before he killed himself, authorities revealed Monday.
Dorchester County deputies arriving at a house on Parlor Drive about 9:30 p.m. found 49-year-old Penny Lynn Mims lying on a driveway with two gunshot wounds to her face, one to her chest and one to the arm, according to an incident report.
Mims told deputies her husband shot her for no reason and he was still inside the house, located in Tranquil Hill Plantation.
Deputies followed a trail of blood across the street and through the open front door of Mims’ home at 9104 Parlor Drive. There, they found 58-year-old Michael Mims with a gunshot wound to the head, an incident report stated.
Penny Mims was transported to Medical University Hospital, where her condition could not immediately be determined today.
Michael Mims was pronounced dead, and his death was ruled a suicide, according to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet.
The incident is under investigation.
