Johns Island man arrested in Sumter County after high-speed chase

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — A Johns Island man was being held in the Sumter County jail Wednesday, accused of leading sheriff’s deputies on a chase on U.S. Highway 378 Tuesday night, according to a story posted on The State’s website.

James Edward Owens, 29, of Old Pond Road, was being held on traffic, drug and weapons charges, including failure to stop for a blue light, according to jail records.
