Identity released of man killed in Summerville Friday night

A 37-year-old man died at a local hospital after a shooting in the area of North Cedar and West 3rd North streets in Summerville on Friday night.

Curtis Tyquan Mitchell of Bayonnet Drive in Goose Creek died at 9:05 p.m. Friday, Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said. An autopsy was planned for today, Nisbet said.

Mitchell was shot outside a business around 8:15 p.m., Nisbet said. He was rushed by Dorchester County EMS to Trident Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his wounds.

Summerville police Capt. Jon Rogers said witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows occupied by two black males leave the scene.

Witnesses said the two males were armed. A dark-colored Infiniti also was seen leaving the scene, Rogers said.
