House fires in Pineville and McClellanville on Saturday left two families homeless, according to the American Red Cross.

An early morning blaze at 849 Runey Lane in McClellanville destroyed the home of a seven-member family, including four children.

An afternoon fire at 147 Tanaya Lane in Pineville in Berkeley County left another family of seven, including four children, without a home.

The Red Cross provided financial assistance, lodging and provisions to the families.

Since July 1, 2012, the Palmetto SC Region of the American Red Cross has responded to the needs of 1,440 families and 4,696 individuals affected by disaster.
