CONWAY, S.C. — Horry County police are stepping up patrols near convenience stores after two deadly store robberies in less than a month.
Area media outlets report the latest happened Sunday night when a clerk was shot and killed during a robbery at a store in Conway.
Police think the men who did it also held up another nearby convenience store earlier that evening. No one was hurt in that incident, but the bandits got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Jan. 2, a clerk was shot during another robbery at a convenience store in Longs.
Authorities have been investigating a string of armed robberies at dollar stores, convenience stores and restaurants in recent months. There’s been an increase in such incidents since October.
