Horry County police shoot man they say threatened family

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Horry County authorities say a man has been shot to death by a police officer after the man threatened his family with a gun.

Lt. Raul Denis told local media that Horry County police officers responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment complex northwest of Myrtle Beach early Friday morning.

Denis says the man refused to drop his gun and continued to threaten his family and was shot and killed by an officer.

No one else was hurt.

Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler says the man’s name has not been released yet. Fowler said an autopsy was planned later Friday.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting.
