CONWAY, S.C. — Elementary school students in Horry County will have to wait before they are provided tablet digital devices.
Two years ago, the school district approved a plan to provide a tablet to every student in the county by the end of next year.
But The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports that the board on Monday delayed giving younger students the tablets because the board wants more information on how they would affect student achievement.
During the meeting, the board heard a presentation on how the devices have helped attendance, reading scores and test scores among middle and high school students in the district.
Chief Academic Officer Cindy Ambrose says the devices help students to learn at their own pace.
