Heavy rain is falling in the Charleston area, and officials warn that flooding is likely on the peninsula.
The National Weather Service reports that 1.25 inches of rain has fallen in 30 minutes at the Charleston International Airport.
Radar estimates that 2 to 3 inches of rain has already fallen across southeastern Dorchester County, the weather service reports.
The storm is bearing down now on the peninsula. All the usual spots, including The City Market, the Septima Clark Expressway and portions of East Bay Street, are expected to flood.
A flood advisory is in effect until 12:45 p.m. for low-lying areas of Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties.
