Gunshot victim recovering in hospital after armed robbery in Ladson

A Ladson man is recovering after being shot in the leg Saturday during an armed robbery and grand larceny of a vehicle, according to police.

Deputies responded about 12:15 a.m. to the 9900 block of Highway 78 in Ladson and found the victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his calf, according to a Charleston County Sheriff's Office report. He was taken to Medical University Hospital.

The victim reported that he walked outside to his vehicle, a cream-colored 2000 Lincoln LS, with South Carolina tag JJX900, and that two black males approached him, brandished a firearm and took the keys to the car. He said when he tried to go back to the residence, one of the suspects fired two shots - one of which struck him in the left calf. They took off in the vehicle, according to the report.

The only description he gave of the suspects were that they were wearing all black clothes and their faces were covered. The suspects remain at large.
