A Goose Creek man faces a murder charge after authorities said he stabbed his wife on Friday during an apparent domestic dispute.
Lester Chung, 77, was charged with murder Saturday following the death of his wife, 61-year-old Xiuying Wang, at 351 Huntsman Drive in Foxborough subdivision, said Sgt. Conrad Stayton of Goose Creek Police Department.
Chung remains in Hill-Finklea Detention Center in Berkeley County after a judge denied bond during a hearing Saturday evening.
A spokeswoman representing the victim’s family read a message during the hearing.
“The cost of Mr. Lester Chung’s actions have left a deep scar within the family,” she said. “A life has been lost. It is more painful to know that it is someone who he, Mr. Chung, used to love.”
Police received a call about 4:30 p.m. Friday about an apparent domestic dispute on Huntsman Drive. When they arrived, they found Wang had been stabbed several times and was unresponsive. A short while later she was pronounced dead.
