Gas leak that caused hours-long traffic backup on Folly Beach repaired

A gas leak that has caused a traffic back-up on Folly Beach for hours has been repaired.

The leak was reported sometime around 2:30 p.m. at 721 W. Ashley Ave. after it was hit during a dig-in, according to South Carolina Electric and Gas. The road, which leads to Folly Beach County Park, was closed for several hours.

The leak was fixed at 7:45 p.m. and one lane of the road has been opened to traffic, SCE&G is reporting. Crews remain on scene to make repairs.
