Gantt, Powell extend Cougars’ SoCon honor streak

Center fielder Marty Gantt was named the Southern Conference baseball player of the year this week by the league coaches and the media, and right-hander Christian Powell was named SoCon pitcher of the year by the coaches.

The College of Charleston thus maintains a remarkable streak of SoCon honors going back to 2002. The Cougars have had a player, pitcher or freshman of the year in every season for the last 11 years.
