GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) — The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two people who they believe robbed, shot, and killed a man behind a bank in Gaffney.

Police told WSPA-TV two people shot and killed 47-year-old Abelardo Morales Baltazar Wednesday night in his car behind a First Piedmont Bank. Baltazar’s GMC Sonoma traveled across the street and hit a utility pole. Responding officers found Baltazar slumped over the wheel. He was pronounced dead at the scene with two gunshot wounds.

Dennis Fowler with the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office says a witness reported seeing two people approach the vehicle and fire shots. Police believe at least one of the suspects is a woman in her teens or early 20s.

An autopsy for Baltazar is scheduled for Thursday morning.
