A fund has been set up to help a West Ashley family who lost their home to a fire Monday.
The house on Cabrill Drive in the Grand Oaks subdivision was heavily damaged Monday when lightning apparently hit the roof. The fire was reported shortly after 6 p.m. The roof was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. Witnesses reported seeing lightning hit the roof before the fire, according to Charleston Fire Marshal Mike Julazadeh.
Donations to the Smith Family Fire Fund can be made at any First Federal branch.
