A service outage that knocked out incoming 911 lines in several surrounding counties has been repaired, Frontier Communications spokeswoman Karen Miller.
Potentially eight counties were affected in the outage including Georgetown, Horry, Laurens, Clarendon, Williamsburg, Fairfield and McCormick, South Carolina Emergency Management Division spokesman Derrec Becker said.
Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson first reported a service outage about 7 a.m.
Power was restored in the county about 9:30 a.m., she said.
Becker officials are still gathering information on the situation.
The problem didn’t only affect 911 lines, Becker said. Several state agencies reported outages, he said.
The outage did not affect 911 lines in Charleston or Dorchester counties, according to officials.
