BEAUFORT, S.C. — The question of whether there should be drilling for oil off the South Carolina coast is the topic of a forum being held in Beaufort.
The event scheduled Thursday is sponsored by the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The Obama administration said this week it was including a wide swath off the coast of the Carolinas in an area that could be opened to offshore drilling by the end of the decade.
Hamilton Davis of the South Carolina Coastal Conservation League is one of the speakers, and his group opposes exploring for and drilling for oil offshore of South Carolina.
The forum also features Lewis Gossett, president and CEO of the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance, a group representing manufacturers across the state.
