Keep a weather eye to the skies over the Memorial Day weekend.

The National Weather Service’s forecast for the weekend shows an increasing likliehood of rain through the weekend, with Sunday having a 60 percent chance of precipitation.

There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday, which increases to a 30 percent chace Saturday night.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely.

By Monday, the chance of precipitation drops back down to about 30 percent, mostly after 2 p.m.

Forecasters also are keeping an eye on a storm, that was strengthening in the Florida Keys Thursday, that was forecast by models potentially to become a tropical cyclone and come up the Southeast coast.

NOAA computer modeling suggested a 40 percent chance of the storm becoming a tropical system, said meteorologist Blair Holloway of the National Weather Service, Charleston.
