Folly Beach has been named a finalist in the All-America City competition on June 16 in Denver.

Mount Pleasant recently received the designation, which was awarded to Charleston in 1978.

Goodwin said the city’s entry in the contest got started because of an inspirational nudge from his wife, Charlotte, after seeing an All-Amerca City sign in Fayetteville, N.C.
“What is it that makes their city so special?” she said to him.
