Fire in North Charleston displaces three

Three North Charleston residents were displaced Monday after a fire at their residence.

Firefighters from North Charleston and St. Andrews fire departments responded just before 1 p.m. to the blaze on Olympia Avenue, near Interstate 26, after a neighbor reported smoke coming from the single-story home.

Arriving firefighters reported smoke and flames visible from a front window of the home. It was quickly extinguished, according to North Charleston fire department spokeswoman Bianca Bourbeau.

The local chapter of the American Red Cross was called to assist the family. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
