No one was hurt Friday afternoon when fire swept a mobile home at 5737 Dorchester Road, authorities said. The only resident of the home is being assisted by the American Red Cross, North Charleston Fire Department spokeswoman Bianca A. Sancic said.

The first arriving firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the mobile home. North Charleston firefighters were assisted at the scene by Joint Base Charleston and the Andrews District Fire Department.

The fire was extinguished quickly, and the cause is under investigation, Sancic said.
