Father, son arrested in connection with bank robbery

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Spartanburg police have arrested a father and son in connection with a bank robbery.

Capt. Art Littlejohn of the Spartanburg Police Department told local media outlets that the son entered a BB&T bank branch and passed a note to a teller, announcing an armed robbery and demanding money. Littlejohn said the father was waiting outside in a getaway car and drove off when his 16-year-old son came out of the bank with the money.

Littlejohn said the two were arrested within 30 minutes of the robbery on Thursday. A witness had called 911 and gave a description of the getaway vehicle and a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the father and son minutes later.

The father is jailed on a $30,000 bond.
