A meeting between Facebook friends became an ambush that left a North Charleston man without his clothes or his car Wednesday morning.

The 21-year-old arrived at a Commander Road home just after 2 a.m., when a group of robbers swarmed him, pointed a gun at his head and stripped him naked, he told police. The robbers stole his cash, his cellphones and his Buick Park Avenue, but he was not seriously hurt.

The North Charleston police had not developed any suspects by Wednesday afternoon, spokesman Spencer Pryor said.

The man, who lives on North Oakridge Circle, said he believed his assailants were juvenile, but he could not offer a detailed description.

The man told investigators that he recently started text messaging an old friend he got to know on Facebook as “Aquellah Pretty Lady,” or something like that, according to an incident report.

He went to meet with her Wednesday morning at 2122 Commander Road, which is near Rivers and Cosgrove avenues.

When he arrived, he later told police, the woman texted him that her brother would greet him and escort him to a back door.

A man walked up and promised to do just that. The person was about 5-foot-2 and had a young-sounding voice, the man said.

But before they reached the backyard, more young males grabbed him. All told, between two and five robbers were involved, he estimated.

One cocked a handgun and pointed it at the back of his head, as others took off his clothes. They made off with $15 in cash, his driver’s license, two cellphones valued at $800 and his $2,500 Buick, the report stated.

Authorities tried tracking the man’s iPhone to Post Street, but they couldn’t find anything there. Other officers were told to look for his Buick, but it did not turn up.

Police found the man naked on the home’s porch. Officers found his shirt and boxers in the front yard and his shoes near the road.

The report provided no indication that the residents of the Commander Road meeting location were involved in the alleged crime. One of the home’s residents loaned the naked man a pair of pants.
