It may have felt like routine police work Wednesday when officers confiscated loaded guns, two of them stolen, and some marijuana at a North Charleston residence.
But surprises do occasionally pop up — or out — for officers. While one of the three men police arrested was being strip- searched by jailers, a spent brass .380 shell casing fell out of the anus of 25-year-old suspect Nathaniel Whack Jr., a North Charleston police report said.
Police responded about 11:30 p.m. to an area near Madden Drive concerning shots fired. Six people were fighting in the road, and some men were trying to take a handgun from one man, the report said. As police arrived, two cars sped off, and were stopped at Accabee Road and Ferrara Drive.
In a car near the Madden Drive area, the report said, police found 15 grams of marijuana and a digital scale. The report said police then went to a home and detained Whack and Pierre Pete. Police found three handguns. One, a loaded Taurus Model PT 738 .380-caliber gun, was reported stolen from Mount Pleasant, and a .40-caliber Glock was stolen from a Richland County Sheriff’s Office deputy, the report said.
Takasha Pete, 25, of Madden Drive is charged with two counts of possession of a stolen pistol. Whack, of Stratton Drive, and Pierre Pete, 21, of Madelyn Street, both are charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Pete also was charged with possession of a stolen pistol, police said.
