FAIR PLAY — Organizers of an Upstate event are hoping to raise money so law enforcement officers can have access to lifesaving medical kits that would include tourniquets.
The Independent-Mail of Anderson reports that a fundraiser Saturday afternoon in Fair Play includes barbecue, a dog demonstration and face painting for children.
Proceeds go toward buying medical kits and tourniquets for Oconee County sheriff’s deputies.
Capt. Jeff Underwood says officers’ lives have been saved because they had tourniquets easily accessible.
Organizers are hoping to raise about $3,500 on Saturday to buy 100 medical kits. Some of the medical supplies will stay in patrol cars, but officers will carry the tourniquets with them in a pouch attached to their body armor.
