Eight arrested in North Charleston prostitution sweep

Eight men were arrested in a prostitution sweep Wednesday in North Charleston.

Seven men were charged with soliciting prostitution, a misdemeanor with a $470 fine.

The eighth was charged with breach of peace, also a misdemeanor with a $470 fine. One of the men was also charged with possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor with a $620 fine.

The department’s SPEED team made the arrests at 1465 Remount Road and in the Chicora Place areas of Grayson Street and Troy, Rivers and Reynolds avenues, according to police spokesman Spencer Pryor.
