A 32-year-old Edgefield man has been identified as the pedestrian who was killed Saturday after walking into traffic in West Ashley.
James Alexander Moore Jr., 32, whose address was not released, died from injuries he suffered in the incident, according to Charleston County Deputy Coroner Brittney Martin.
Officers responded around 3 a.m. to the scene near Glenn McConnell Parkway and Mary Ader Avenue, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis previously said.
Investigators believe Moore walked into the flow of traffic and was struck by a vehicle. He was then struck two more times, Francis said. One of the motorists then positioned his vehicle to prevent anyone else from striking the man.
The case remains under investigation.
