Max Joseph Graber

A man who Charleston police say was driving drunk crashed a 2006 Ford F-150 into the barn at Bessinger’s Bar-B-Q early Monday morning.

Max Joseph Graber, 21, of Pepperwood Court left his job at Red Lobster about 10:30 p.m. Sunday night for a black-light party at Voodoo Lounge, an incident report states.

Graber told police he had four beers at the bar before he got behind the wheel, and drove down Savannah Highway to go home shortly after 2 a.m.

According to Graber, a red sedan struck him when it cut him off, which caused him to lose control of his truck.

He told police he closed his eyes as he veered off the road, crashed through the restaurant’s seating area, and came to a stop in the parking lot.

Police say Graber was bleeding from his ear after the wreck.

He was taken to Roper St. Francis for treatment, where hospital officials cleared him of head trauma, the report states.

Graber was taken to the Charleston County jail and charged with driving under the influence.

The wreck is under still under investigation, police spokesman Charles Francis said.
