Driver in Johns Island fatality identified by coroner as 34-year-old man

The driver who died in a car wreck on Johns Island Sunday has been identified.

Daniel Jenkins, 34, whose address was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

Around 3 p.m. Sunday a 2000 Honda sedan traveling north on Brownswood Road went off the right side near Island Estates Drive, came back across the road and hit a ditch, then flipped over and hit a tree, according to Charleston police.

Jenkins was the only person in the car and was not wearing a seat belt, police said. The cause of the accident remains investigation.
