A driver was charged with DUI after Mount Pleasant police said he hit a patrol car on the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge early Sunday.

Around 1:15 a.m., an officer stopped to handle a collision at the Meeting Street exit, according to the incident report from Mount Pleasant police. The patrol car was sitting with blue lights activated when a white car approached from the south.

The driver “did not slow or attempt to change lanes” and sideswiped the patrol car on the driver’s side, according to the report. The driver kept going and came to a stop at the Interstate 26 exit.

EMS was called to the scene, but no injuries were reported.

The Highway Patrol was called in, and the driver was charged with DUI. He was identified as Ronald Gregery Walker Jr., 25, of Purcell Drive in North Charleston. He was released from the Charleston County jail on $2,267 bail.

Walker was out of jail on $40,000 bail after being arrested last month in North Charleston and charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
