Several tri-county agencies will come together Saturday to teach children about safety.
A Summer Safety Festival will be held at 2 p.m. at the Dorchester County Magistrate Court Troy Knight Judicial Complex, 212 Deming Way in Summerville.
The event is free and family-focused, with opportunities to learn about injury prevention while participating in fun activities. There will be jump castles, face painting and several emergency response vehicles, including a helicopter, according to a Wednesday media release.
There also will be some food concessions.
Highlights of the festival include a safety course simulating the dangers of texting and impaired driving, water safety and a bicycle safety course, which teaches safe-riding skills for children ages 5 to 13. Training wheels are welcomed, and the public is encouraged to bring their bikes and safety equipment.
There will be 300 new helmets awarded to bicycle safety course participants.
Information about health services and a limited number of health screenings will be available for adults.
