A Dorchester County man got 20 years in prison with no parole for his role in a home invasion in Summerville last year.

Carl Chaplin, 58, was convicted today of first-degree burglary and two charges of kidnapping in a Dec. 3 home invasion on Cone Lane in Summerville, according to the 1st Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Chaplin acted as a lookout while two companions burst into the house, held the occupants at gunpoint, tied them up and robbed them, according to the prosecution.

Chaplin was sentenced to 20 years on each charge, to run concurrently. Kidnapping and first-degree burglary are no-parole offenses.
